Kansas

Robert and Jessy are in Overland Park, Kansas for a National Softball Tournament. They lost today and are coming home tomorrow - we can't wait, they have been gone for a week.

The funniest thing: Jonny Ardo (my nephew) happened to be 10 minutes from where they were staying. He was actually on his way to Costa Rica. The intern at Placerita Baptist is from Overland Park and it's actually his church that is sponsoring the mission. What are the chances that Jonny would be in Kansas, 10 minutes from Robert and Jessy??? He told me he was going to Kansas and there were big softball fields nearby. Even at that, I figured it wasn't where Jessy was staying as I'm sure there must be fields all over Kansas (?) I couldn't believe it when he told me it was 10 minutes from them! What a small world! Monday night Robert was talking to Jonny telling him he would pick him up for Jessy's game Tuesday morning...Jessy asked who was coming - Robert told her Jonny Ardo and she said, "Dad - do you really think I am that big of a dork?? Like Jonny Ardo would go to my game in Kansas!" Then later in bed Jessy asked who he was really talking to and Robert made someone up in order to surpise her.

Jonny surprised her in the hotel lobby Tuesday morning - she couldn't believe it!

Now to Jonny - he is going on a mission trip to Costa Rica. He stayed in a 6000 sq. ft. home in Kansas - with one room dedicated to vintage Taylor Guitars. The family took him out to a nice dinner, Robert took him to Starbucks and that night he was going to Costa Rica. Nice way to start out a mission! Patty was so happy for him to learn to rough it - sleeping on the ground, bugs, etc. in Costa Rica. It turns out, Jonny is staying in a nice hotel there - he was laughing so hard telling me that there is a spa and sauna plus a free weight room to use! We have been laughing so hard about it - so much for roughing it! He'll be doing construction during the day - at least he'll get a good night sleep in his nice hotel!!!! I'll update you on his trip. He's so cute because he is so excited. Please pray for him!!! More later...
